We are proud to announce our new Carbon Fiber Driveshafts for the C6! We have tested this driveshaft to 2000 lb-ft of torque without failure using a hydraulic press. It uses billet aluminum ends.
Specifications
Weight - 6 lbs.
Diameter - 2.75"
*NOTE
For use with manual transmissions only. If there is enough interest we will consider developing one for automatic transmissions.
This is the perfect driveshaft for the following:
- Big horsepower and drag racing applications that need the ultimate in strength
- Road racing applications that need high rpm stability
- Excellent replacement for a street car
Driveshaft twisting
Carbon Fiber has three times the torsional strength of steel. The torsional spring rate allows better tire hook-up and smoother shifting.
Critical Speed
The critical speed of carbon fiber is 2x better than aluminum. Critical speed is the RPM at which the driveshaft is computer projected to bend or whip. Exceeding critical speed can produce vibrations that can result in driveshaft failure.
Transmission and Differential Life
By providing much less shock load to your drivetrain, this is going to increase the life of these components by reducing the chance of part failures.
Racing
Carbon Fiber will eliminate and dampen high speed vibrations. In drag racing applications, you can can expect to see better 60ft times. In road racing applications, smoother shifting and better durability of the transmission and differential have been reported. Test results have shown no vibrations at 180 mph on the dyno. You will have a much greater safety factor - carbon fiber will return to a fiber and not create shrapnel under the car, as would aluminum or steel shafts.
